Colleen’s Obituary Colleen Blanton, age 88, of Topeka passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at her home in Auburn. Colleen was born October 7, 1930 in Jackson County, Kansas the daughter of Forrest C. and Golda E. (Rippetoe) Calderwood. She graduated from Meriden Rural High School in 1948 and later attended Washburn University.

She married John F. Gerber Jr. October 29, 1948, he preceded her in death January 22, 1990. She married Don E. Blanton September 3, 1992, he preceded her in death May 26, 2009. Colleen was a life member of the Phillip Billard V.F.W. Post #1650 Auxiliary.

She was also a member of the American Legion Post #400 Auxiliary and D.A.R. Colleen worked for the State of Kansas with the Department of Corrections for over 40 years. Colleen is survived by two daughters, Pamela (Danny) Hendricks of Topeka and Kimberly (Mark) Schlobohm of Topeka; four grandchildren, Michael, Jessica, Bradley and Morgan; and eight great grandchildren, Arianna, A.J., Scarlett, Aubrie, Madyson, Brynlee, Chesney and Finley. Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.

Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite K.U. or K.C. Chiefs outfit to the services. Visitation will follow the services. She will lie in state Tuesday from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home.

Private inurnment will be at the Half-Day Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of the Davidson Funeral Home. davidsonfuneral.com.
