Obituary for Conrad L Kohler Pawleys Island…. . Conrad L. Kohler Conrad Louis Kohler age of Pawleys Island, SC died at home on Sunday, September 23, 2018.

Conrad was born in Columbus, OH on April 7, 1928 to the late Margaret and Louis Beyerkohler, an only Child. He was the husband of Helen Kohler. He graduated from the Columbus, Ohio school system and attended the University of Dayton.

He served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He worked in the financial services industry for 27 years eventually in charge of over 100 offices in 10 states for a major consumer finance company. He opened Penn Hill Associates in the Philadelphia area, a consulting and recruiting firm, in 1976 and moved the company to Pawleys Island in 1989.

He sold the company and retired in 2002. Conrad was an accomplished roller skater; he and his partner won the New Jersey Senior Dance skating championship in 1988 and 1989. He purchased the Georgetown, SC Skating Center in 1992, refurbished it and operated the rink until he sold it to his employees in 2000.

He was a member of Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church in Pawleys Island. He was a charter member of the PBOC Knights of Columbus council 11028 and a 4th degree Knight. He served on many church committees and was active in fund raising at the church through several building programs and was a founding member of the Columbarium development committee.

He was a Laubach Literacy Tutor and had taught reading and employment classes to inmates at the Georgetown Detention Center. An avid boater and fisherman he had been a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary and had been active in the Sierra Club, Audubon Society, Coastal Conservation Association and the Waccamaw RiverKeeper program. He is survived by his wife, Helen and five children, Kerry Kohler of Pawleys Island, SC.

He was pre-deceased by by his first wife, Beverly and a son, Craig. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, October 5, 2018 at Precious Blood of Christ Catholic Church with Father Pat Stensen officiating.
