Coy Gidley Thackeray August 8, 1925 ~ July 7, 2018 “Together Again” Georgia Coy Gidley Thackeray, 92, passed away on Saturday, July 7, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 8, 1925 to George Pearce and Selma Ailene Henrikson Gidley. Born and raised in Park City, Utah, which she loves to this day with many visits.

She graduated from Park City Elementary, Park City High School, and attended from Weber College in Nursing. She lived in Ogden for 2 years and has spent 70 years in Riverdale. She married Jay Roland Thackeray in January 16, 1946 in Ogden, Utah, and their marriage was later solemnized in the January 15, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Jay passed away on October 2, 2017. Coy was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Washington Terrace 2nd Ward and served faithfully in many callings including Primary Presidency, Relief Society Presidency, and many teaching positions. She loved the temple and witnessed the first sealing in the original Ogden Temple.

She was involved in many charity functions via Good Sam Chapter and part of the Over the Hill Gang. Coy loved to travel and was an avid bird watcher. Georgia is survived by her sons, Gregg Jay (Chris) of South Weber, Randy Mark (LaRae) of Layton, Gary Lyn (Jeanne) of Clinton, and Robin Scot (Carolyn) of Ogden; daughter, Joy (Jim) Summers of Tucson, AZ; 18 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Thackeray; great-grandchild, Jackson S. Thackeray; daughter-in-law, Kathleen H. Thackeray; her parents, and all of her siblings, Glen, Gay, and Don. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
