Cresencio’s Obituary Cresencio B. Garcia (1928-2019) Cresencio Bautista Garcia passed away peacefully on January 29, 2019 at the age of 90, after a courageous battle with cancer. A longtime resident of Salinas, he was born on September 17, 1928 in Castillejos, Zambales, the Philippines. Cresencio was married to his loving wife of 62 years, Fausta Santiago Garcia.

He proudly served in the United State Army for 20 years, and was stationed at various bases including Scofield Barracks in Hawaii, Korea, Fort Lewis in Washington, the Panama Canal Zone, Fort Ord in California, Fort Bliss in Texas, and Fort Ritchie in Maryland. Cresencio received a Purple Heart after being wounded in battle in Vietnam in 1967. He retired in 1974 to settle with his family in Salinas.

Cresencio loved travelling, fishing, gardening, watching boxing, wildlife documentaries, and game shows on television, and especially enjoyed spending quality time with family, relatives, and friends. He attended Hartnell College and was also a member of Disabled American Veterans, Filipino Community Club of Marina, and Chapter 549 of the Purple Heart, of Monterey Bay. Along with Fausta, Cresencio is survived by his sons, James, of Santa Clara, Ronald and his wife Paula of Orinda, and his daughter, Nancy Garcia Paik of Poway, along with his grandchildren: Julia and Harrison Paik, and Derrick and Alec Garcia.

Visitation will be held 3:00pm to 5:00pm Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Rosary will be held 5:00pm Sunday, February 3, 2019 at Alta Vista Mortuary, 41 East Alisal Street, Salinas, CA 93901. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00am Monday, February 4, 2019 at Madonna Del Sasso Church, 320 East Laurel Drive, Salinas, CA 93906.
