Farewell to Our Precious Mother, Grandmother, Great Grand Mother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend, Mrs. Daisy Ruth Williams Ponds. Daisy was born May 3, 1941, in Mount Gilead, Montgomery County, North Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Melvin and Daisy Thomas Williams, and her stepfather, Milkton McLendon.

Daisy was educated in the Anson County public schools and attended the historic Kingvillle High School, Albemarle, North Carolina. Daisy was loving, generous and nurturing. Her willingness to help others led her to a career in nursing.

For several years she was employed as a certified nursing assistant with Albemarle Home Care and Stanly County Hospital. She was a member of Union Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, Albemarle. There she was member of the Lay Council, Stewardess Board, Women’s Home and Overseas Missionary Society, where she served with the Bureau of Supply, and the Kitchen Staff.

Not only did she serve on the Union Chapel kitchen staff, she served on the kitchen staff at many of the community churches. That was Daisy, always willing to lend a helping hand. She was an amazing cook and was known for her famous chicken-n-dumplings and her scrumptious desserts.

She was also a former member of the Order of Eastern Star. In her leisure, Daisy enjoyed family gatherings, spending time with her countless friends, and traveling-especially cruises on the great blue seas. She loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally and always wanted the best for them.

Sometimes rearing led to stern disciplinarian actions, but she wanted them to become respected, productive adults. Sunday morning, May 13,2018, Daisy entered Eternal rest and joined her parents, her husband, Willie Levi Ponds, grandson, Ja’Von Ponds and brother, Charlie Williams, in Our Master’s home, a place of Perfect Peace. Her life will forever be cherished and remembered by her sons: Kenneth (Renae) Ponds, Davara (Anita) Ponds, Fernando (Kim) Ponds, Jamie (Angie) Polk and Odell Davis, all of Albemarle; daughters: Gail Ponds, Matthews, North Carolina and Tonya (Michael) Covington, Albemarle; 16 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; brother, Mack (Phyllis) Williams, Albemarle; sister, Sadie Knight, Badin, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Diane Geter; brothers-in-law: Rayfield Ponds and Charlie Ponds; nieces and nephews: Brenda Loyd, Donna King, Michael Williams and Charles Williams; special friends(The Taurus Girls & Others): Leacy Mae Flake, Hattie Davis, Bruce Ingram (Sabrina) Norland, Valerie Rorie, Candie Swaringen, Emily Turner, Philmore Lilly, Ruth Dorman, and Murvyn B. Kelsey; a host of other relatives and friends.

So, farewell Our precious Emerald, you will always be in our hearts. We will remember your teachings from which we will never part. ‘‘Good night, sweet Daisy, may flights of Angels sing thee to thy rest”.
