Dale D. Knapp, 74, of Hanover, PA, entered God’s eternal care, Friday, December 28, 2018 at Homewood at Plum Creek, Hanover, PA, with her loving family by her side. Born February 11, 1944, in Chester, PA, she was the daughter of the late Thomas W. and Edna May (Schwalm) Diedrich. She was the loving wife of James S. Knapp with whom she shared fifty-six years of marriage.

Dale was a 1962 graduate of Towson Senior High School, Towson, MD. Her work career included Hampton Mansion, Ladew Topiary Gardens, Transportation Bureau of Baltimore, and she retired from Edward Jones as Branch Office Administrator. Dale was very active in the Homewood at Plum Creek community.

She was chairperson of the Library, a member of the Book Club, Gourmet Club, Canasta group, as well as the Women’s Circle. Dale was an avid Baltimore Ravens fan, enjoyed embroidery, knitting, cooking, entertaining, cruising, travel (including to Jim’s Navy reunions) and especially family time. Her community spirit and generosity shone through her many volunteering activities, starting when her children were young including Brownies, Girl Scouts, and 4-H.

In addition to her loving husband, James, Dale is survived by her daughters, Leah L. Knapp of Coolbellup Western Australia and June E. Springer and husband Mike of Glenville, PA; grandson, Aidan Beyer of Melbourne Australia; sister, June Satterfield and husband Joe of Smyrna, DE; a niece, May Barclay Satterfield and husband Dennis Cole of Holly Springs, NC. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas A. Diedrich II. A memorial service to celebrate and remember Dale’s life will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Homewood at Plum Creek Chapel, 425 Westminster Avenue, PA, with Chaplain Joel Hummel officiating.

A visitation and time to share memories with the family will be held from 10:30-11:00 AM, Monday, January 7, 2019 at the chapel. In keeping with Dale’s vibrant personality and love for her Baltimore Ravens, attendees to the celebration are encouraged to wear Ravens colors or bright colors to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Dale’s memory may be made to Phoenix Wildlife Center, P.O. Box 424, Phoenix, MD 21131, the Benevolent Fund at Homewood at Plum Creek, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331, or the COPD Foundation, 3300 Ponce De Leon Blvd, Miami, FL 33134.
