Dale Floyd Bennett March 13, 1938 – March 19, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Dale Bennett passed away on March 19, 2019. He was born in Enterprise, Oregon on March 13, 1938 to Joseph and Elta (Norton) Bennett. Dale was the youngest of 10 children.

The family moved to Pendleton in 1944. He married Bette Gorger on February 7, 1959 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pendleton. Dale was a Jack-of-All Trades.

He was employed at Pendleton Grain Growers, was an upholsterer at Hill’s Furniture, Pendleton Woolen Mills, and the flour mill in Pendleton. After moving to the Tri-Cities in 1980, he worked out of the local Painters Union in various locations including the Hanford Sites and other areas. He worked in the northern most parts of Alaska as a commercial painter on the DEWLINE (Distant Early Warning System) during the final stages of the Cold War Era.

After retiring in 2001, Dale and Bette bought an RV and traveled around the Northwest, settling in Yuma, Arizona for 4 years. When his health began to deteriorate, they returned to Oregon to be near their family. Date enjoyed camping with friends in the mountains and along the Columbia and Snake Rivers, building and remodeling houses, landscaping and decorating the house and yard for Christmas.

He also enjoyed playing Pinochle and 31. Dale is survived by his wife, Bette, of 60 years; daughters Tery Thorson (Kevin) of Connell, WA, Toni Bennett of Kennewick, WA, and son, Tim Bennett (Susan) of Walla Walla, WA; sister Reta Hill of Pendleton, OR and brother Ervin Bennett of Anchorage, AK; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, five brothers, 2 nephews and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

Memorial Services will be held at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 1:00 PM. with lunch following at Blanchet Hall.
