Dalen Leroy Beethe was born on December 16, 1934 at Steinauer, Nebraska, to Otto and Laura (Wolters) Beethe. He passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018 at the Pawnee County Memorial Hospital in Pawnee City, Nebraska. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Elk Creek.

Dalen had been a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Pawnee City since 1965. He attended school at Steinauer and at St. Peter’s Lutheran School. Dalen served in the US Army from 1955-1956.

He lived most of his life in Pawnee County, Nebraska and was engaged in farming, trucking, and the local sale barn. Dalen had been a member of the local NRD, the Pawnee County Veteran’s Committee, the Pawnee City Cemetery Board, the American Legion, the American Vets and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He married Mary Elizabeth Felt on February 22, 1962, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Salina, Kansas.

To this union two children were born: Diana Louise and Scott Leroy. Dalen was preceded in death by his parents, brother Marlen Beethe, sister Maryellen Doeden, brothers-in-law Paul Hestermann, Ray Doeden, son-in-law Terry Poskochil, nephews Brad Hestermann, Craig Peters, and Mitchell Doeden, and great nephew Robert Butler, Jr. Dalen is survived by his wife Mary, children Diana Poskochil of Bennet, NE, Scott Beethe of Pawnee City, NE, grandchildren Jessie and Carly Poskochil of Bennet, NE, Kesha Beethe of Seattle, WA, Dustin Beethe of Tecumseh, NE, sisters Mardell Hestermann of Sterling, NE, Sheila (Royce) Peters of Elk Creek, NE, sister-in-law, Lois Beethe of Elk Creek, NE, nieces Cindy (Troy) Walters of Elk Creek, NE, Julie (Chris) Beekman of Lincoln, NE, nephews Brian (Sandra) Hestermann of Lincoln, NE, Kevin (Lynn) Hestermann of Lincoln, NE, Curtis (Cathie) Peters of Elk Creek, NE, Matthew (Suzie) Doeden of Unadilla, NE, twelve great nieces and nephews, and three great-great nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church, Pawnee City, Nebraska with Reverend Tim Llewellyn officiating.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 19, 2018 at Wherry Mortuary, 919 G Street, Pawnee City, Nebraska. The family will greet friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Inurnment at the Pawnee City Cemetery, Pawnee City, Nebraska. Memorials in lieu of flowers may go to the family’s choice.
