Daniel E Buzz Starkey, September 07, 1963 — October 14, 2018

Obituary for Daniel E. “Buzz” Starkey Daniel E. “Buzz” Starkey, 55, of Benicia passed away suddenly Sunday morning at his home. He was born in Tracy, California and has called Benicia his home for the past 9 years. He was a former resident of Tollhouse, California and attended Sierra Union High School, class of 1981.

He has worked as an electrician for more than 30 years, most of them with Contra Costa Electric and was a member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #302. Buzz enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting and rooting for the Chicago Bears and the San Francisco Giants. He had an infectious smile that could light up a room and was always the life of the party.

He is survived by his wife Laura Lynn Starkey; son Daniel E. Starkey II, daughter Courtney Starkey; grandson Reilly Favalora, daughter Haydee Brazeal, his brother Chuck Starkey; sister-in-law Tammy; his former wife Trisha Kelly; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins that he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Joan Starkey Scruggs and his stepfather Andy Scruggs. With a heavy heart, we’d like to announce that Buzz’s Celebration of Life will be held at the Camel Barn; 2060 Camel Rd, Benicia CA,94510 this Sunday, October 21st, at 12 o’clock.

Pastor Michael Mau will begin speaking at 1pm. The celebration will be potluck style, so if you’re interested in seeing what others are bringing, there is a signup list at the Bottom of the Fifth. Work family will be covering the desserts, and we encourage you to bring whatever you want to drink… San Francisco Giants and Chicago Bears attire are welcome.

We are putting together a photo album of Buzz, so if you have photos you’d like to print out and write a message or memory, we’ll have a keepsake box. Our family truly appreciates all of your thoughts and prayers. The family prefers donations to the Wounded Warriors Project.
