S. Darlene Templeton, 89, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa. Darlene was born Susan Darlene Bauer on July 15, 1929, to William and Cecilia (Kuppas) Bauer in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from Welton High School, and attended nurses training in Clinton.

Darlene married Roy B. Templeton Sr. on August 9, 1952, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Welton. The couple resided in DeWitt, where she worked as a computer operator at Iowa Mutual Insurance until retirement. Roy preceded her in death in 2006.

Darlene was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in DeWitt where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She enjoyed bowling at DeWitt Lanes, gardening and camping, loved cats, and was an avid reader. She is survived by her children, Roy Templeton, Jr. of DeWitt, Ellen (Ray) Willis of Adel, and Kevin Templeton of Toronto; siblings, Marcella Steinke, William Bauer Jr., and Robert Bauer; a brother-in-law, Vince Moore; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Beverly Moore and Mary Guerra, a sister-in-law, Joyce Bauer, and brother-in-law, Kenneth Steinke. A private graveside memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Frances Banta Waggoner Community Library of Dewitt Iowa.
