Mary Ann Mason, 93, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 26, 2018, at Wheatland Manor in Wheatland, Iowa. Mary was born November 19, 1924, to Martin and Mary “Anna Marie” (Christensen) Mason, in Calamus, Iowa. After graduating from Calamus High School, Mary attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois, and then graduated from the American Academy of Art in Chicago.

She worked as a layout artist and illustrator in Chicago until retirement. Mary enjoyed spending time with family, visiting, and sharing a good cocktail with company. She looked forward to Christmas, celebrating traditions of lutefisk, potato cakes, and kringles with the Norwegian blessing.

Her family enjoyed her stories of the timber, the pond known as “Jim Springs,” and life back home on the farm with her cousins. She is lovingly survived by many special cousins, friends, and her Wheatland Manor family. She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings.

Visitation will be from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2018, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, rural Calamus. A Service of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Wheatland Manor for their exceptional care and friendship. Condolences may be expressed at www.
