David Allen Ballard, 52, of Mount Vernon, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2019, with his family by his side. David was born July 14, 1966 in Orrville Ohio to David E. Ballard and Elizabeth {Wood} Ballard. He graduated from Perry High School in 1985.

He worked many years for Marion Steel. He loved fishing, hunting, working with his hands, but most importantly spending time with his family. David will be deeply missed by his children Ashlee (Rachel) Ballard, Jessica Ballard, David J. (Alix) Ballard, and Jaelyn Ballard; grandchildren Luna and Adrik; father David E. Ballard of Canton, mother Elizabeth Mertes of Mount Vernon; niece Whitney, and nephews William and Thomas; and many great nieces and nephews.

David was preceded in death by his sister Raynell Sparks, and his step father Fred Mertes II. Friends may call Tuesday from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Roberts Funeral Home-Mount Vernon Chapel 18260 Coshocton Ave. Mount Vernon, Ohio 43050.

A Life Celebration will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mount Vernon Memorial Gardens. Online tributes may be made at www.
