Obituary for Mr. David George Zamboni David George Zamboni passed away on Sunday, April 8. He was a great husband, wonderful father; his loving, kind and caring personality touched many lives. He was also well respected and loved by many of his colleagues.

David was born in New Jersey and moved to Camarillo, CA when he was 9 years old. He was a bright, successful student and class president of his school. He was very family oriented, raised with strong Italian traditions.

David graduated magna cum laude from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in Electrical Engineering. During the summers he worked at the company his father managed and spent his days surfing and relaxing with friends at his favorite beach in Ventura. David was very close to his father, who unfortunately passed away in 2007 after a hard battle with ALS.

David worked at Echostar in Denver for 3 years designing Satellite Set Top Boxes. In 2006 he moved to Silicon Valley to work at Broadcom. At Broadcom David pushed the limits and enabled the company to ship the world’s first WIFI and Bluetooth “Combo” in Apple’s MacBook Air.

He later helped drive Apple’s adoption of the Combo in the iPhone enabling WIFI/Bluetooth speaker music streaming. His positive “can do” attitude, his trademark “I’ll take care of that” and his follow up won admiration from Broadcom peers and Apple alike. David is survived by his loving wife, Mercedes; and two wonderful children Sabrina (3 yrs) and Donovan Zamboni (5 yrs).

He is also survived by his mother, Elvira Zamboni of Bend, OR and his brother Richard Zamboni of Bend, OR. Friends and family are invited to attend the Celebration of Life at the Santa Cruz Memorial – Oakwood Chapel, 3301 Paul Sweet Road, Santa Cruz, CA on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at 2:00 PM. The ceremony will be followed by a reception.
