Obituary for Jody (George) Edsall, Jr. Jody (George) Edsall went into the Light of the Lord on May 2, 2018 at 7 pm after an incredible warrior fight with prostate cancer. He battled for 3-1/2 years and he finally suffers no more. He and best friend Trish Erickson were baptized in Christ together on Sunday April 29, 2018.

Jody was a Santa Cruz native, raised in La Selva Beach. Jody served in the Navy as a Quartermaster. He worked as a chef at assorted local restaurants and also cooked for the Grey Bears helping the less fortunate.

Jody’s last career was as a sports official, umpiring softball and refereeing basketball games for the Santa Cruz Parks & Recreation as well as other games around the Bay Area & Winnemucca Nevada. He was an avid guitar player, gardener, coin collector and Giants & Raider fan. He would often give coins as gifts to Dominican Hospital staff as a thank you after his many hospitals stays.

He and his wife Jeannie enjoyed many years of happy travels to America’s national parks as well as up and down the California coastline. Jody was an extraordinary human being. He had the softest heart and kindest spirit, always lifting up and encouraging others.

Anyone lucky enough to know him felt his love and enjoyed his witty and outrageous sense of humor. His father, George Sr. preceded him in death as did his mother, Peggy only 28 days before him on April 4, 2018 who also passed away due to cancer. He leaves behind his wife, Jeannie (Bogner/Pearce), his sisters; Terry Sandlin, Joyce (Dave) LaRue, six nieces, 2 nephews, his best friends Trish Erickson & Frank Maestrejaun plus many, many more family, friends and neighbors.

His wife, Jeannie sends an eternal thank you to the Dominican hospital staff…each and every person who cared for Jody since 2014; “You have all become our family, and there will never be enough words to convey how grateful and blessed we have been to receive your incredible care and compassion, God bless you”. Remember to celebrate Jody’s life with joy and laughter! “I would rather have a full bottle of beer in front of me than a pre-frontal lobotomy” Jody 4/29/2018 Donations can be made in Jody’s name to Dominican Hospital Foundation 1555 Soquel Drive Santa Cruz CA 95065.
