Obituary for Richard Parker Dick was born to Miriam and Donald Parker and grew up in San Jose, CA. He received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from Cal Berkeley and worked for Dow Chemical, then became a commodities/stock broker and finished his career as the Public Guardian Estate Manager for the County of Santa Cruz, where he moved with his family in 1983. Dick loved playing tennis, basketball and beach volleyball.

He was often seen walking on East Cliff and on the beach with his beloved wife, Mary Lou (Reilly), who preceded him in death in 2004. He is survived by his children, Robert Parker of Long Beach, Tom Parker of Mill Valley, Sara Karn of Royal Oaks; grandsons, Kristopher, McKinley, Joseph, and Cameron; brother Donn Parker; niece Diane Wisdom; nephew David Parker; and his long-time caregiver, Garry Keeney. The family would like to thank the staff of Maple House II for their loving kindness, compassion and exceptional care, and to the staff of Hospice of Santa Cruz County who took great care of him.
