David, the son of Guy and Gladys Shirley was born on January 17, 1935, in DeRidder, LA. Visitation will begin Sunday, January 27, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, in Labby Memorial Funeral Home in DeRidder, LA.

Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2019, at 11:00 AM, in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in DeRidder, LA with Rev. Alan Knuckles officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, DeRidder, LA.

David loved his family, his belief was that there is no greater sacrifice than laying down your life for family or friends. He attended DeRidder High School and McNeese University. He married the love of his life, Dee Hall and they moved to Dallas in 1960 where they spent 48 years together.

David retired after 39 years of service from Kraft Foods as their lead electrician. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a practical joker, but above all, David was a family man with a huge heart who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with his family. Left to cherish his memory are his son, Guy D. Shirley and wife Pamela of Montgomery, TX, his daughter, Danielle Shirley–Snow and husband Scott of Wylie, TX, brothers, Patrick Shirley and wife Ruth of DeRidder, LA; Mike Shirley and wife Linda of Denton, TX; 11 grandchildren, Guy William Shirley, David Thomas Shirley and wife Kourtney, Jonathan Davis Shirley, Emily Hartegan, Edee Snow, Amanda Snow and husband Richard, Jason Snow, Jeffery Snow, Jackson Snow, Jed Snow, Destiney Shirley-Olds and husband Roy; and 10 great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, Guy and Gladys Shirley; his wife, Dee Shirley; son, David M. Shirley; and nephews, Shaun and Tyler Shirley.
