David L. Lusty, age 81, of Miltona, died Thursday, April 19, 2018, at Bethany on the Lake in Alexandria. A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2018, at Faith Lutheran Church in Miltona with Rev. John Riggle officiating.

Music will be provided by Kim Byrne. Interment will take place with full military honors accorded by the Minnesota Honor Guard and the Parkers Prairie American Legion Post #219, at Spruce Hill Cemetery, Spruce Hill Township. A visitation will be held 5-7 p.m., Friday at the Lind Family Funeral Home in Miltona and continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

David Leslie Lusty was born February 10, 1937, to Leslie and Alice (Steidl) Lusty at home in Spruce Hill Township. He was baptized at St. Nicholas Church in Belle River and confirmed at Spruce Hill Church. He attended Country School District #66, through the eighth grade and graduated from Central High School in Alexandria.

Following his education, David served in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958, until his honorable discharge, at which time he returned home. He was united in marriage to Su Ann Botzet on April 29, 1961, at Seven Dolors Church in Millerville. He was a life-long farmer in Spruce Hill Township, never retiring, even doing fall tillage for his son and his wife as recent as this past fall.

David was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, Midwest Fjord Horse Club, Northern Draft Horse Club, Central Minnesota Draft Horse Club, and the Prairie Eagles Saddle Club. He served on the Spruce Hill Foundation and Spruce Hill Cemetery Board. His hobbies included anything to do with horses and giving rides at Miltona Tornado Days and Carlos Creek Winery.

David took great pleasure in his grandkids and great-grandkids and especially enjoyed time spent with them. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald; parents-in-law, Henry and Anna Botzet; step-mother-in-law, Lillian Botzet;and brother-in-law, Herb Botzet and wife, Elaine. David is survived by his wife of 56 years, Su Ann; two sons, Brad (Roxann) Lusty and Bob (Rochelle) Lusty; daughter, Barb (Tom) Randall; sister, Marge (Dennis Ramey) Lusty; sister-in-law, Lois Lusty; grandchildren, Jesse Lusty, Jennifer Demmer, Megan Lamb, Blake Randall, Ryan Randall, Kirsten Gertken, and Nathan Lusty; two step-grandsons, Bill Randall and Rob Randall; and great-grandchildren, Damon Demmer, Dawson Demmer, Lexi Demmer, Jaylyn Lusty, Lacey Demmer, Brielle Lusty, Donovan Randall, Austin Randall, Nick Randall, and Ben Randall; and several nieces and nephews Pallbearers are Jesse Lusty, Nate Lusty, Blake Randall, Ryan Randall, Andrew Lamb, Stephen Gertken and Seth Demmer.

Honorary pallbearers are McKenzie Christensen, Jennifer Demmer, Kim Lusty, Megan Lamb and Kirsten Gertken.
