Obituary for Mr. David Logan Lyons David Logan Lyons, of Philmont, NY, age 26, raconteur, cherished friend, father, brother, son, and precious light, passed away last week, peacefully, at his home and in the presence of his loved ones. Born in November 19, 1991 in Niskayuna, NY, David was the son of Christopher R. Lyons and Mary Lyons-Scofield. David worked throughout his young life in many capacities and discoveries, in the field of construction for various companies in the Capital Region, most recently out of the Hudson/Chatham area.
Happiest outdoors, David shared an affinity for nature in all forms, enjoying camping and fishing with family and friends. Creative and inspired, he strived to be a dedicated father, brother, boyfriend, son, and friend. He was a burgeoning chef, cooking for others as a demonstration of his thoughtfulness and generosity.
A profoundly introspective young man, he was known to deliver bracing insights about what is true, what is important, what matters. He expressed his sometimes-ironic considerations as a tattoo enthusiast, learning the art form in his spare time, practicing to become more and more proficient. David loved animals as well, and over the years dedicated himself to the care and nurturing of animals once mistreated and abandoned.
Over the last few years, David donated much of his time to speaking honestly to young adults and mentoring individuals on recovery of all kinds. An endearing quality was Dave’s ability and willingness to make us all laugh. His own laughter, deep and spontaneous, had an air of abandon that was graciously infectious.
An empath, he demonstrated through impersonations, various accents, and his wit, how deeply he could relate to our struggles and how attuned he was to Spirit and the healing we can offer to each other. Survivors include his daughter Zevi S. Lyons of Schuylerville, NY, his mother Mary Lyons-Scofield of Saratoga Springs, NY, his father Christopher R. Lyons and his wife Kimberly Crocetta of Ballston Spa, NY, two sisters, Piper H. Lyons, and her fiancé, Michael Destefano, Jr. of Amsterdam NY, and Kay Crocetta Lyons of Ballston Spa, NY, his girlfriend Angela Tipple of Philmont, NY, his step grandparents, Patrick and Gail Crocetta of St. Augustine, FL and many aunts, uncles and cousins. David lived a life full of challenges and joy and unconditional warmth and radiance to all who knew him.
His passing, all too soon, reminds us of the delicate nature of our being, and should inspire us to love more truly, understand each other more deeply, and live more authentically. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethesda Episcopal Church, 43 Washington Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. Family and friends may call at Bethesda from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. prior to services.
A private burial and dissemination of his ashes will follow.
