David “Oompa” Hummel, of North Olmsted was called home February 28, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer. He was the beloved husband of Susan Hummel and loving father of Nicole Hummel (Brandon) and Kaylea Miller (Bryan). David was born June 25, 1956 to Ronald and Shirley Hummel, who still reside in North Olmsted.

He was the eldest of four siblings who enjoyed cooking, fishing and boating on Lake Erie. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by brother Jeff “Sweetman” Hummel (Kathy), John “Yonko” Hummel (Ellen) and sister Kris “Beeps” Hummel.

He was a loving and devoted grandfather to Brooklynn “Brookie” and Lexi “Crazy Baby” Miller. David was also “dog dad” to Sprocket and Dorothy. He will be deeply missed by all.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the Sunset Chapel, 6245 Columbia Rd.
