David Junior Black, age 87, of Hot Springs, died Saturday, January 12, 2019. He was born on September 13, 1931, in Plainview, the son of Manual Black and Bertha May Buroughs Black. On December 16, 1955, he married Pansy Sue Sanders, who preceded him in death on March 7, 2009.

He was also preceded in death by one grandson, Joseph Wallace; his parents; and ten siblings. David was a member of Lakeview Assembly of God. He was actively involved with the Assemblies of God for many years where he served as a deacon, trustee, sang in the choir and church quartet.

After more than 45 years, he retired as a master carpenter, where he excelled in his craft of cabinet and furniture making. A U.S. Army veteran, David served his country with honor. He is survived by five daughters, Pamela (Ron) Burns of Waco, Texas, Sonia (Douglas) Lankford of Hewitt, Texas, Darla (Tommy) Masters of Pearcy, Lisa (John) Goodwin of Jackson, Tennessee and Aimee (Joe) Caldwell of Hot Springs; seven grandchildren, David Wayne Trusty, Christopher (Scott Yoak) Lankford, Jacob Wallace, Cassie Wilborn, Mallory Wallace, Nichole (Matt) Straub and Isabella Caldwell; six great-grandchildren, Jayce Wallace, Parker Wallace, David Wayne Cox, Mikie Cox, Sloane Straub and Hampton Straub; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of wonderful friends.

Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 18, 2019, in the Davis-Smith Funeral Home Chapel, Hot Springs with Rev. Jonathan Kinder and Rev. Mike Louton officiating.

Interment will be in Morning Star Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Thursday evening. Pallbearers will be Joe Caldwell, John Goodwin, Christopher Lankford, Scott Yoak, Seth Louton and Tommy Masters.

Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Lankford, Ron Burns and David Wayne Trusty. The family would like to thank the staff of Pines Nursing and Rehab. and the staff of Kindred Hospice.
