On June 19, 1949, she married Warren Sutton and they lived happily together for 52 years until his death in 2001.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Claudett Swan. She graduated from high school in 1940 and started working for Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator. She was later promoted to the engineering department and retired after more than 35 years of service.

In 1977, after visiting Hot Springs and staying in Wacaster’s Shady Hills Trailer Park, Bette and Warren moved to Hot Springs and purchased the trailer park. That is when she joined the Wacaster family. Bette and Betty W. became best friends and did everything together until Betty’s death in 2011.

She looked forward to their Friday night card games and trips that they made together in their travel trailers. They even drove all the way to Mexico City, Mexico pulling their trailers. Bette was a long-time member of First Christian Church where she served as a deacon, served in many other capacities in the church and sang in the choir for 50 years.
