Dean Worley, our kind and loving father, passed away on March 12, 2019 in Sandy, UT after his heart had given all of the love our Heavenly Father had prepared for him to spend. After 81 incredible years of spending that love here on earth, Dean was called home by our Lord to rest. Dean was born on February 22nd, 1938 in Williamsport, Indiana to John & Ruth “Bobbie” Worley being the youngest of 6 siblings, and a twin to his just slightly older sister Donna.
Dean was a passionate singer, and let his gift be known while singing for the Purdue Glee Club. He travelled across Europe with his group, and studied Chemical Engineering while attending Purdue University. He was successful working for an engineering firm near Chicago, which led him to Salt Lake City, and found him many years later pursuing a successful career as a business owner in the petrochemical field.
Dean married 3 times in life, and was a father to 7 children. He and his second wife of 12 years, Marguerite “Maggie” Goodnow Worley, had 5 children before her early passing due to cancer. They had many great years together before the end of their marriage when they divorced.
After a rewarding and uphill struggle of 5 years fighting to be with his separated children after Maggie’s passing, Dean found new hope in a strengthened relationship with Jesus Christ. He also met Lee Speranza Worley, his third wife, and a woman who was just as passionate as he was, and challenged him to be the man of Christ he was meant to be. They met while serving the homeless in downtown Salt Lake City, and experienced together the joy, faith, and miracles of the Lord.
The two of them were a team that found great joy in raising 5 kids and building a happy marriage and life. Dean and Lee were always together, and enjoyed almost 20 years of marriage together. Their love and joy had its struggles, but was always strong until Lee’s sudden passing in December 2008.
Dean is survived by his 5 children, in order from eldest, Mike & (April), Jennifer, John & (Sharry), Matthew & (Angie), and Marcus & (Emily); by his 18 grandchildren: Sydney, Michael, and Charlotte -(Mike); Avery, Isaiah, Xavier, and Elijah -(Jennifer); Gabriel, Marguerite, Malachi, and Hannah -(John); Kobi and Abigail –(Matthew); Karsen, Karmen, Karlee, Kitanna, and Kainin –(Marcus); his stepsons Randy Speranza & Dan Speranza; his twin sister Donna, and by many friends and neighbors that have known him. Our father has had an amazing journey through this life, and we are confident that he is experiencing a wonderful love and peace we can only imagine. We encourage you to join us in celebrating and remembering the life of our kind, wise, and loving dad.
