She was born on July 21, 1955 in Kansas City, Missouri to Roscoe McGill Sr., and Shirley McGill. She grew up in Kansas City, Missouri and was educated in the Kansas City, Missouri Public School district.

She graduated from Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri. After high school she furthered her education at Penn Valley Community College in Kansas City, Missouri. Deborah was involved in the Shriners drill team for 13 years.

She loved to travel and going shopping with her best friend Linda. She was preceded in death by her parents; Roscoe and Shirley McGill, brother, Ronald McGill, maternal grandparents; Claire and Mervin Carmichael, and paternal grandparents; Jeffrey and Jeanette McGill. Deborah is survived by daughter; LaNaya Farris (Douglas), granddaughter; Ryan Caston, sister; Roxann Wallace (Reggie), brothers; John (Junebug) McGill, Roscoe McGill Jr (Tiffany), Greg O’Neal (Gayle), and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family request memorial donations to be made to LaNaya Farris.
