Obituary of Deborah Jean (Stopyak) Gilbert Deborah Jean (Stopyak) Gilbert, 64, of Bay City, our amazing, fantastic, beautiful, kind, and loving wife, mother, Mayma, sister, aunt, and friend was born into eternal life on November 9, 2018 at McLaren Bay Region. Debbie was born in Bay City on November 30, 1953, the daughter of George and Lorraine (Leygraff) Stopyak Sr. Deb graduated from Central High School, class of 1971 and later went on to obtain her Certification in Medical Transcription from Davenport University – a very proud accomplishment of hers. She worked at American Brown Hoist, Don’s Quick Stop, Caris Red Lion, Dr. Grover’s office, and J.P. Discount.

Throughout life, Debbie enjoyed camping, watching fireworks, playing the accordion, celebrating the holidays, watching NASCAR and most recently the Detroit Lions, and singing. While singing karaoke one night, Deb met the love of her life, Frederick J. Gilbert. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 31, 2003.

Together they shared over 15 years of marriage, enjoyed traveling and going on “Fred Man Trips” to see the fall colors with their niece and special travel buddy, Sami; Debbie was always Fred’s guide. Above all, Deb loved her children and grandchildren, they were the lights of her life. She will be missed dearly, but lovingly remembered for generations to come.

Debbie leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Fred; her children, James (Tara) Potts Jr., Stephanie (Michael) Evans, and Michelle (Johnathon) Headings; grandchildren, Alyssa Evans, Gavin Potts, Austin Potts, and Aryanna Potts; her father, George H. Stopyak Sr.; siblings, Diane (Rusty) Potts and Mark (Harriet) Stopyak; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Stopyak) Morris, Cheri Stopyak, Sandra (Archie) Clauss, Dorothy (Scott) Kriel, Kathy (Scott) Van Pelt, and Denice (Roy) Densmore; brothers-in-law, Dick (Jean) Gilbert, Dale (Sandy) Gilbert, and Gary (Sally) Gilbert, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was welcomed home to heaven by her mother, Lorraine, and her brothers, George Stopyak Jr. and Ron Stopyak. Deb’s family will be present to receive visitors on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 3:00 PM until the time of her 7:00 PM Memorial Ceremony at Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 955 N. Pine Rd.
