Deborah Kay Hoelmer Bohnsack January 01, 1952 – January 05, 2019 Share this obituary Local Florists Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card January 1, 1952 – January 5, 2019 Deborah Kay Bohnsack (nee Hoelmer) age 67, of Williamsburg, MO, struggle ended on January 5th at the Harry S. Truman Veteran’s Hospital in Columbia, MO just one day short of her 46th Wedding Anniversary. Debbie was born on January 1st 1952 to Orville and Frances Hoelmer. She attended school in Hermann, MO and graduated High School as Valedictorian.
Debbie and Randy were united in marriage at St. George Church in Hermann on January 6th 1973. She attended college in Cape Girardeau (SEMO) where she received a BS in Biology. Afterwards Debbie and Randy enlisted in the US Air Force and were one of the first married couples to join the Air Force as a married couple.
While she was in the Air Force she worked on F4-D Fighter Air Craft. She continued her education and received a degree in Electronics from the Community Collage of the Air Force. Debbie became an avid water fowl hunter which would evolve into the sport of field training Labradors.
She was involved with many field trial clubs and was a founding member of The Missouri River Field Retriever Club. After returning to Missouri in 1986, Debbie and her husband reopened the old closed Safari Campground in Danville, MO. They chose the name Kan-Do Kampground.
They owned this business for 18 years. During this time Debbie served as Director of the Missouri Campground Owners Association, she also donated her services to Montgomery County by co-authoring the first master plan and zoning order for the county. In her later years she became a serious buyer and seller of antiques across the country.
Debbie leaves behind her beloved husband, Randal; her brother, Mitchell Hoelmer and wife, Sarah (Hermann); her sister, Susan Oetterer (New Haven); her sister, Phyllis Bland (Hermann); her brother, Larry Hoelmer and wife, Debbie (Gasconade); and her sister, Linda Neuner and husband Mark (Hermann). Also surviving is her Mother-in-law, Freida Bohnsack (Advance); her Brother-in-law, Darell Bohnsack and wife, Delores (Jackson, MO) and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews. Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Frances Hoelmer; her father, Orville Hoelmer; her father-in-law, Cleo Bohnsack; and her brother-in-law, Donald Oetterer.
She also leaves behind her Labrador, Gracee. Debbie loved her family very much and was proud of their accomplishments. She was also very Patriotic and loved God and her Country.
As requested by Debbie, she will be cremated, and her burial with full Military Honors will be held at a later date at the Missouri Veteran’s Cemetery in Bloomfield, MO in Southeast Missouri.
