Polkton – Ms. Debra Hayes Benton, 54, died suddenly at her home in Polkton on Friday, May 3, 2019. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be scheduled for a later time. A native of Logan, West Virginia, Debra was born June, 10, 1964, a daughter of the late Willis Dale Hayes and Mary Lou Blankenship Hayes.

She worked for DirectTV and was so successful as a marketer that she became one of the company’s most talented sales trainers. Survivors include a son, Cutter McLaren of Laurel Hill, FL; daughters, Kayla Hildreth and Nikki Benton both of Wadesboro; and three grandchildren, Corey, Chloe, and Connor. Also surviving are her sisters and a brother, Linda Hayes Ball, Carolyn Hayes Hurley, Ruby Hayes Adams, Donna Hayes Ross and Billy Ray Hayes; three step siblings; many nephews, nieces, and cousins; and many beloved friends.

In addition to her parents, Debra was preceded in death by step-dad, Morton Lesley Charles; a brother, Lonnie Dean Hayes; and a sister, Dwana Gail Hayes Woody.
