Obituary for Debra Lee Brandon Debra “Debbie” Lee Brandon, 62, of Charlotte, died unexpectedly at her home on Monday, July 16, 2018. Debbie, or “Granny” as she also liked to be called, was born in Charlotte on February 5, 1956, the daughter of Guy Thomas and Hazel Lee Rivers Spurrier Sr She grew up there and graduated from Myers Park High School.

She owned and operated her own house cleaning business and enjoyed crocheting, shopping, getting her nails done, reading and making the best pound cakes you ever tasted! Most of all, though, she loved spending time with her family, especially watching her grandchildren play sports. She was a wonderful, loving spirit to all and she will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Debbie is survived by her son – Christopher (wife Celeste) Thomas of Cherokee, AL, and their three children: Kylee, Elijah and Isabella; a brother – Guy Thomas Spurrier Jr of Charlotte, NC; a sister – Vickie Benson of Charlotte, NC; and a sister – Linda Schuster (husband Scott) of Indian Trail, NC. “Granny” loved the time spent with her family and treated all nieces, nephews, great nieces and grand nephews like her own children. These include her nieces and nephews: Nicole, Michelle, Rachel (husband Tony) Worthy, Stacy (Markese) McClinton, Scottie Schuster and Shelby Schuster; and grand nephews and grand nieces: Jalen, Jordan, Colby, Macie and Bailey.

She is further survived by her church family at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church as well as numerous other family and friends. Debbie’s family has given the family of Lowe-Neddo Funeral Home the privilege of caring for them. Visitation will begin at 1 pm on Thursday, July 19, in the funeral home chapel.

At 2 pm, all present will join in a service led by Pastor John Miller to celebrate the life, love and blessing of Debbie. Following the service, family and friends will join in formal procession to Debbie’s final place of earthly rest at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill. There, she will be laid to rest next to her husband, Fred Brandon, who preceded her in death on September 12, 2009.
