Denise Dee D Riesen , May 23, 1966 — May 28, 2018

Denise “Dee” D. Riesen, 52 of Beatrice passed away at her home on Monday, May 28, 2018. She was born May 23, 1966 in Wichita, Kansas to Charles and Margaret (Klein) Kaltenbach. She was raised in south central Kansas and graduated from Goessel High School in 1984.

Dee then attended Bethel College for 3 years, where she met and later married Daryl Riesen on June 6, 1987 in Goessel, Kansas. She taught elementary education at Tri County Public School starting in the fall of 1989 until her retirement in May of 2015.

Dee enjoyed gardening, landscaping, working on the farm but the most important things were her family and her passion for teaching kids. Survivors include her husband, Daryl of Beatrice, NE; two sons, Christopher Riesen of Newton, KS, Kyle Riesen of Beatrice, NE; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Terri and Duane Hansen of Lincoln, NE, Sharon and Alex Gonzalez of Flagstaff, AZ, Kim and Craig McLoughlin of Bohemia, NY; brother and sister-in-law, Charles, Jr. and Jeanette Kaltenbach of Wichita, KS, mother-in-law, Elsie Riesen of Beatrice; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Byron and Denise Riesen of Beatrice and Kim Riesen of Fenwood, WI; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorial services will be held at 2:30 P.M. Friday, June 1, 2018 at First Mennonite Church of rural Beatrice with Pastor Brett Klingenberg officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the services on Friday in the First Mennonite Church Cemetery of rural Beatrice. A family prayer service will be held 2:15 P.M. at the church on Friday.

Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the family for future scholarships to be established for students majoring in elementary education with Jim Ensz and John Penner in charge. Closed casket visitation will be at the Fox Funeral Home of Beatrice from 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday until 8:00 P.M. on Thursday. The family will meet and greet friends from 5:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. on Thursday at the funeral home.
