Dennis Johnson, age 72, passed away on January 19, 2019, in Murray, Utah. He was born January 1, 1947, in Colorado Springs, Colorado to Esther and Perry Johnson. He was married to Vickey Jean Bood for time and all eternity in the Los Angeles, California LDS Temple on June 29, 1968.

Dad grew up in Pocatello, Idaho and graduated from Pocatello High School before enlisting in the United States Navy in 1965. Dennis served faithfully in the US Navy for twenty years, retiring as a Senior Chief in 1985. While in the Navy he received a Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal.

He had a beautiful singing voice and loved music, playing the piano and banjo. While in the Navy, Dennis was stationed in the Philippines, San Diego, Midwest City (Oklahoma) and San Pedro (California). After retiring, he lived in Ridgecrest (California), Grass Valley (California), West Jordan (Utah), Simi Valley (California), West Jordan and Draper (Utah).

After the Navy, Dennis spent his professional career as a defense contractor and broadcast engineer before moving back to Utah to help run the family community management business. He is survived by his four children: Michael D. Johnson (Amy), Paul Johnson, Katie Felts (Rob), and Lynette Bates (Ben). His grandchildren: Kyra Romrell, Elizabeth Johnson, Victoria Payne (Zach), Nicole Johnson, Michael P. Johnson, Eric Felts, Paul Kolo, Thomas Kolo, Aiden Bates, and Ryder Bates.

Dennis is preceded in death by his loving wife of 40 and a half years, Vickey Jean Bood Johnson, his parents Esther and Perry Johnson, and by his brothers Brion Johnson and infants Gary and Brent. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the River LDS Chapel, 11473 S. Chapel View Drive, South Jordan, Utah. A visitation will be held at the same location on the 25th from 10:30 to 11:30 AM.

Interment will be at the Salt Lake Cemetery. Dennis’ family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at IMC that so thoughtfully and diligently cared for him during his last week. Please share memories and condolences at www.
