Sampson will be conducted 11AM April 11th, 2019 at the Nathanael Lutheran Church in Dagmar in honor of what would have been her 87th birthday. David Anderson will be officiating and burial will follow at the church cemetery. Dolores Lorraine Sampson, 86 of Dagmar died on February 25, 2019 in Billings.

Fulkerson Funeral Home of Plentywood has charge of arrangements. Our Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother joined our Heavenly Father February 25, 2019 in Billings, Montana. Dolores was born the 4th of 8 children to Martin and Clara Haug on their farm south of Grenora, ND on April 11, 1932.

She married Dennis E. Sampson September 15, 1950 at First Lutheran Church of Williston, ND. They made their home at Dennis’ farm 3 ½ miles north of Dagmar, MT. Together they raised registered and certified durum seed and cattle.

They later had 2 daughters: Diane Nagel (John Woolsey) Helper, UT; Bev (David) Cybulski, Plentywood, MT. Dolores was one of the original Founders of the Mental Health Board & Glenwood Board 25+ years each in Plentywood; Also one of the original Founders of the Lutheran Center in Billings, MT 25+ yrs –a home where if you needed extended medical care you could rent a room and stay in convenience of a home closer to the hospital during your treatment. With Dolores’ love for bowling it was not uncommon to see her bring home several 300 series.

Dolores was the first Licensed EMT in NE MT. She was a member of the Nathanael Lutheran Church and could be found giving of her time and talents as Sunday School Superintendent for 20+ yrs; Luther League Advisor and holding several Ladies Aid Offices. Mother left an Amazing Legacy on 11 of the Nathanael Lutheran Church windows.

“Stained Glass” creations are an art which is part of something greater that cannot exist without the sun or creation. When the sun illuminates the glass in the morning, it says to everyone “you are the new day”. Mom and Dad together moved the row of Blue Spruce Evergreen trees from their farm to the west side of Nathanael Lutheran Cemetery … a Beautiful backdrop for the cemetery.

In Dolores’ free time she could be found quilting … she left behind quilts for each of her daughters and for other family members. So many beautiful memories were made as each of us grew up on “the farm”. All of the grandchildren Loved being at the farm with “Gram” and eating “face cookies”.

There was always so much Love at “The Farm”. Dolores leaves behind her two daughters; grandchildren: Jeremie (Annie) Ward, AZ; Kristen Ward (Adam Sergeant), Sidney, MT; Amber Ward Sissel, Sidney, MT; Vince Cybulski, Las Vegas, NV; Janet (Jeff) Walters, Portland, OR; Christopher Cybulski, Plentywood, MT; Great Grandchildren: Adeline, Dennis & Clara Ward, AZ; Jacob & Katelyn Sissel, Sidney, MT; Lydia & Lucy Cybulski, Las Vegas, NV; Jackson Walters, Portland, OR: Sisters: Darlene Sattler, AZ; Linda (Jerry) Selby, Williston, ND; Brother: Martin (Arlis) Haug Jr, Williston, ND … numerous Nieces & Nephews. Preceded in death by parents; the Love of her life Dennis; Grandsons: Neal E. Ward & Justin C. Ward; Brothers: Bernard (Bud) Haug, Orvin Haug, & LeRoy Haug; Sister: Shirley Hoburka; Special Friend Alvin Schagunn.

Dolores resided at Canyon Creek Memory Care Center, Billings for the last 5 years. She loved the staff and we are grateful for their tender care on her behalf. In Lieu of flowers … Memorials can be made to the “Nathanael Lutheran Church Stained Glass Fund”.
