OBITUARY Domenica “Minnie” Hymes May 14, 1922 – December 11, 2018 Domenica “Minnie” J. (Gineo) Hymes, 96, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Raymond Hymes, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Born in Hartford on May 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Sebastiana (Abramo) Gineo. Domenica worked as an adjudicator for the Veteran’s Administration for many years.

She was a past member of NARFE (National Association for Retired Federal Employees) and was responsible for writing their monthly newsletter. Domenica traveled the world with her husband and daughters for many years while he served in the United States Air Force during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. More than anything, she was happiest spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her great joy.

A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Domenica will be forever missed by her two daughters, Cindy LaFlamme of Wethersfield with whom she made her home and Cheryl Tomecko of Old Bridge, NJ; five adored grandchildren, Gerard LaFlamme, Joseph V. Zavada and his wife Avicia, Michael R. Zavada and his wife Alicia, Courtney Tomecko and Carolyn Tomecko and five cherished great-grandchildren, Cross Zavada, Chloe Zavada, Gia Zavada, Jules Zavada and Dayton Tomecko. She is also survived by her brother, Salvatore Gineo and his wife Patricia of New Britain as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was predeceased by five brothers, Joseph, Thomas, Matthew, Alfred and John Gineo and one sister, Fortunata “Fanny” Orsine.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Domenica’s grandson Jerry, her hospice nurses and the entire staff of the Jefferson House. Funeral services will begin on Saturday (December 15) at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. , Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Hwy.

, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
