Don Bowen September 17, 1935 – May 12, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Donald Albert Bowen, Sr., 83, passed away unexpectedly in his home on May 12, 2019. He was born on September 17, 1935 in Muskegon, MI. He was preceded in death by his 1st wife Ruth Ann Bowen (Baldwin), Stepson Benjamin Michael Evans, Father Albert Bowen, Mother Dorothy Bowen (Clifford),and grandson Jason Miller.

Sadly, his sister Pat Jamieson joined him in Heaven 2 days later on May 14, 2019. He is survived by his wife Kathi Bowen (O’Connor); Sister JoAnne Cook (Bowen); children Kathy (Joe) Miller of Middleville, Donald Jr. (Bonnie) Bowen of Grand Rapids, Karen (Ken) Orr of Holland, David (Wendy) Bowen of Spring Lake, Stepchildren;Larry (Amy) Evans of Lakeview, Shawn (Pam) Evans of Howard City, Tim (Pam) Evans of Cedar Springs; Grandkids; Mike Bowen, Tami (Randy) Binkowski, Bryan (Jessica) Tomberlin, Jennifer (Saul) Bolaños, Renée (Jaimey) Roth, Josh (Caitlyn) Bowen, Jordan Bowen, Alyssa Bowen, Alexis Bowen, Rayne Evans; great grandkids Brendin Tomberlin, Jasmine, Isabella, Gabriel, Liliana Bolaños, Jacob, Jayden, Jayce, Jenna Roth, Easton and Isla Bowen; Mya Ruben, and many Neices & nephews. He graduated from Godwin High School and was a custodian at Hillcrest Elementary for 32 1/2 years, where he received a standing ovation when he retired.

If a student needed a tooth pulled, he was the go to guy! He enjoyed coaching baseball in his younger years and was an overall life coach. He loved riding his motorcycle, snowmobiling, boating on the Muskegon River, golfing, working outside cutting wood, volunteering at his church, and also sat on the Howard City Board of Review.

He had beautiful blue eyes, he loved everyone he met unconditionally. From the moment you met him he was your friend! His nicknames were Smiley (if you knew him you knew why) & Bo-Bo.

He had a great sense of humor. He often said “pull my finger”, “want a piece of beer”, “hey doll, how ya doin”, “love ya babe”. He loved being with his family and he will be missed dearly.
