Obituary for Don F. Stevens Don F. Stevens, a resident of Sulphur was born September 10, 1936 in Midland, Texas to Austin Leslie & Virginia Lee (Cook) Stevens. He passed Wednesday away September 5, 2018 at Sulphur, Oklahoma at the age of 81 years 11 months and 25 days. His family moved to Sulphur in 1952.

He attended Sulphur High School, graduating in 1955. Don was married to Zelda Lee (Aubrey) Stevens at Sulphur, OK on June 2, 1956. He served in the United States Air Force at Altus and Travis Air Force Bases.

Don attended Cameron College in Lawton, graduating with an Associate’s Degree. He graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural Economics in 1967, becoming the first in his family to obtain a college degree. After working for several Agricultural concerns in Oklahoma and Kansas, including his own cow-calf operation north of Sulphur, Don owned and operated Grider Implement Company in Davis for a number of years before retiring.

In his retirement he traveled with Zelda, engaged in business part time and spent time with family and friends. A committed Christian, he died with the certainty of a life after death. Don was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jon Stevens.

Survived by his wife of 62years, Zelda Stevens, of Sulphur, OK; Son & daughter-in-law: Richard Stevens & Peggy Stockwell, of Norman, OK 2 Grandchildren: Michael Stevens, of Norman, OK; Elizabeth Stevens, of Norman, OK Also extended family and many friends. Services will be held Tuesday September 11, 2018 at 2:00PM at Faith Center Church officiated by Pastor Jerry Lemley. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home Military service by US Air Force Honors Team The family wishes to thank the staff of the palliative care unit of the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, especially Linda, Pam and Dr Bray-Hall, and the staff of Victory Hospice, especially Gaylene and Sarah, for their expert care and attention to Don in his final illness.
