Don’s Obituary DON HUGHES James Ladon Hughes of Nevada, Texas passed away on Friday, March 01, 2019 at his home in Nevada. Don was born on Saturday, October 21, 1939, in the small community of Graham Point in Hunt County Texas. His parents were the late Milton James and Mary Ellen Bostik Hughes.

Don was one of three children. Don liked to box and was a good boxer and he became a Golden Gloves Boxer. Don worked hard all his life in various occupations.

In February of 1968 he became a co-owner of BE&H Extrusion Die and Tool. They initially started the business in downtown Wylie but moved to their Highway 78 location in order to expand. Don met Mary Genene Vaughn and they married on September 2, 1959.

Don and Genene made Wylie their home and raised their two boys here. Even though Don had a business to run he made time to give back to the community. He coached his sons little league football and baseball teams.

He was a member of the Wylie Jaycees and served on the Wylie City Council and had served as Mayor for a time. After Don retired, he had his farm in Nevada where he kept his livestock and enjoyed spending time there. Shortly before Genene retired from her business, Genene’s Beauty Salon, they built their house at the farm and moved from Wylie.

Don is survived by his sons, James “Jimmy” Allen Hughes and his wife, Kathi of Mustang, Oklahoma and Gary Don Hughes of Nevada, his two sisters, Peggy McAbee and Cecilia Ayers; grandchildren, Lauren Jackson and her husband, Josh and Allyn Murray and her husband, Kraig; and his great granddaughter, Hazel Grace Murray; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held at Allen Funeral Home on Sunday, March 3, 2019 from 2:00 P.M.-4:00 P.M. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, March 4, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. Minister Eric Hogue and Chaplain Matthew Glenn will officiate. Don will then be laid to rest next to Genene in the Wylie Cemetery.
