Donald C D Vault Sr, December 15, 1942 — March 11, 2019

Donald C. DeVault Sr. told his last dirty joke on March 11, 2019 at the age of 76. His bullheadedness and quick temper will not be forgotten. He was born on December 15, 1942 in Repaupo, NJ and resided in Paulsboro for over 40 years.

He is predeceased by his parents, Charles W. DeVault and Martha G. DeVault(Feldman) and his wife of 52 years, Earlene E. DeVault(Rockwell), his long departed pet, Luke and a step brother, William Meyers. He served in the US Navy as a torpedoman’s mate, 2nd class aboard the USS Robert L. Wilson, visiting over 50 countries. He was a machinist by trade, retiring from Boeing in 2002 after 36 years of service.

He is a former member of the Paulsboro Moose Lodge #607 where he served in multiple offices, including several terms as Governor. He was also a member of the Gibbstown VFW Post #5579. He had a lifelong fondness of horse racing, poker and rescuing dogs.

His entire life can be summed up in one sentence: It didn’t go as planned, and that’s ok. He imparted on those who would listen the wisdom of “Do the best you can with what you have”. He is survived by his son, Donald C. DeVault Jr. and his partner, Todd D. Gottlieb of Sewell; his pets, Penny, Mandy and Batman; his aunts, Sarah Redrow(Robert) of Logan Twp.

, and Joan Pirone of Hawaii; his siblings, Darlene Green(Richard) of West Deptford, Beverly Brown(Charles) of Logan Twp. , Stephen DeVault(Charlotte) of National Park, Evelyn Schultz(Fred) of Cape May, Jill Wentz(Lewis) of Mickleton, John of Tucson, AZ, Kay DeVault of Buena, Charles(Tammy) of Gibbstown, and his step sisters, Lorraine Hughes(Carl) of Gibbstown and Sylvia Merkle(Richard) of Port Charlotte, FL. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 AM Saturday March 16, 2019 in Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, 240 S. Tuckahoe Rd.
