Donald Churchill Stephens of Fowler entered into rest surround by his loving family April 12, 2018. He was born March 22, 1955 to Gary E. and Betty June Stephens in Alamosa, Colorado. He was 63 years of age.

Don graduated (he always liked to say he was paroled) from Alamosa High School in 1973. Don or Donny was a jack of all trades and master of none. He farmed, drove truck, worked construction, was a diesel mechanic for many years, taught trades in a handicap workshop and drove a school bus… Read More » but his love and passion was being a Pastor.

Don married Sandra Kay on May 19, 1978 in Alamosa, Colorado. She was the God given helper that struggled through the many ups and downs of Don’s life. She was the balance of the teeter totter they shared for almost 40 years.

Sandy could have excelled in any field she chose, but she excelled in being the wife and lover to Don, the mother to their two daughters and the beloved Pop-pop to Jessa Paige. Jessa held such a special place in Don’s life. Don is survived by his mother, Betty, wife Sandra, daughter Sherrie Lynne and husband Paul, daughter Jennifer and husband Shawn, granddaughter Jessa, his sister Nancy and husband Paul.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. A celebration of Don’s life will be held, Saturday, April 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Pitkin Avenue Baptist Church, 301 7th Street, Fowler, CO 81039. In lieu of flowers, Don requested memorial donations be given to Pitkin Avenue Baptist Church or Sangre De Cristo Hospice.
