Evelyn M. Kinkade, 88, passed away Feb. 3, 2018 at her La Junta home. She was born to James & Hazel (Eason) Woody on Oct.

8, 1929 in Nevada, Missouri. She moved to La Junta with her mother and stepfather, John H. Meritt in 1936. She attended school in La Junta, graduating in 1947.

She moved from La Junta in 1956 and lived in seven different states including the Philippine Islands while following her military husbands. She is survived by her children, John E. (Paula) Freed, Jr. of Arizona, Debbie (Ron) Carrica of La Junta, Pam Freed of La Junta, Jeff (Barb) Freed of Santa Rosa, CA, Steve Kinkade of Rohnert Park, CA, and Jennifer Honey of Pueblo, CO; grandchildren, Amee Carrica, Sean Carrica, Sam Freed, Jim Freed, Eric Freed, Kyle Kinkade, Jacob Kinkade, Trey Honey, Raegan Honey and Hayden Honey.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her mother, Hazel A. Meritt and step-father, John H. Meritt. Per Evelyn’s request there will be no services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice Assoc.
