Juanita Maria Lucero, 75, of La Junta passed away on September 18, 2018 at her son’s home. She was born on March 17, 1943 in Goodland, Kansas to Clarence & Velma (Nutt) Vassau. Juanita was a very talented woman.

She enjoyed creating flower arrangements, ceramics, crocheting and sewing. There was nothing she could not create with her own two hands. She was an amazing mother and grandmother.

She is survived by her children, Felicia Lucero of Englewood, CO; Angela Lucero of Lamar; Sabrina (Stan) Clements of Denver; Geoffrey (Lisa) Lucero of La Junta; 15 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren also survive.

She was preceded in death by her parents, ex-husband, George Lucero; brother, Robert Vassau; grandchild, Paul Solis and great-grandchild, Titus Lucero. Memorial service will be held on Monday, September 24, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Steve Hicks of the Cheraw Baptist Chapel officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice, PO Box 408, La Junta, CO 81050 or the Bent County Memorial Nursing Home, 810 3rd Street, Las Animas, CO 81054 direct or through the funeral home.
