Donald D. Simons, 55, of Clinton and formerly of Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018 at West Wing Place in DeWitt. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home in Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the services on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics towards the Lymphedema Clinic. Don was born May 27, 1963 in Moline, a son of Donald & Darlene (Edwards) Simons. He was united in marriage to Sandra J. Prins on April 26, 1996 in Thomson, Illinois.

Don had most recently been employed with Staples, but had been with Radio Shack in Bettendorf for 17 years. He had been manager and was proud of the awards he had received while there; he could sell batteries to anyone. He was also an avid fan of the Andy Griffith Show “Watch out Mayberry, there’s a new sheriff in town!

” Those left to honor his memory include his wife Sandra; his daughter, Kayla Simons of Davenport; his step-daughter, Jenny (Jay) Detterman of Clinton; his grandchildren, Karly, Lucas and Logan; his step-son, Brian Barsema of Texas; his brothers, DeWayne Simons of Davenport and Darrell Simons of Colorado; and a special uncle, Walt Wermuth of Moline.
