Monson-Donald E. Riggie, 73, died Friday, April 27, 2018 after a long illness. Donald was born in Ware, MA March 27, 1945 to the late Eugene R. and Mary R. (Chmura) Riggie. He has lived in Monson for many years.

He worked at Monson Developmental Center as a special services assistant and retired after 30 years. He enjoyed day trips to the casino’s and playing cards. Donald was predeceased by his wife Mary J. Augusine-Riggie in 2015.

He leaves a son Brian Riggie and his wife Cindy of Ware a daughter Shannon Riggie and her fiance Steven Redman of Westfield; grandchildren Joseph Riggie and Courtney Riggie; his former wife Phyllis Demers, of Ware; sisters, Mary Jane Banas and her husband Felix of Palmer, Constance Riggie of New Mexico, Nancy Stabach of Palmer, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Visiting hours will be held in Lombard Funeral Home 3 Bridge St. Monson, Monday, April 30, 2018 from 5-7pm with a prayer service and celebration of life at 7pm to conclude the services. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital- Springfield, Donations Department, 516 Carew St. Springfield, MA 01104.
