Donald F. Hardy, 86, passed away on May 21, 2019 in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his family by his side. He was born on December 7, 1932 in Charlevoix, Michigan and was drafted into the U.S. Army when he was 19. Don met his beautiful wife Janet in Charlevoix and they were married on July 21, 1951.

They celebrate 66 years of marriage together before she passed away on June 5, 2018. He said marrying Janet was the best decision of his life. They had four children together Samuel, Bruce, Donald and Cindy.

Before retiring, Don worked for the United States Postal Service. He enjoyed flipping houses over the years and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He and Janet spent their retirement years in Colorado Springs, CO, Sun City, AZ, and Charlevoix.

Surviving Don is his sister Joyce Hardy Ketchum, his children Samuel and Kym Hardy, Bruce and Anne Hardy, Don Hardy, Cindy and Paul Mead and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and lovely wife Janet. He will be forever in all our hearts and we will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 1, at 1 p.m. at the Charlevoix Chapel of Mortensen Funeral Homes. The family will receive friends from 12 Noon until the time of service. Memorial contributions can be made to the Mancelona Senior Center c/o Mancelona Township, PO BO X 332, Mancelona, MI 49659.
