Donald Frank “Don” Strainer May 25, 1938 – January 20, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Donald Frank “Don” Strainer Brownsburg, passed away Jan. 20, 2019 at the age of 80. He was born May 25, 1938 in Lockport, Illinois, the son of John P. and Antonia D. (Smerdel) Strainer.

Don was employed for 30 years at Union Carbide. In his spare time he enjoyed camping, bowling, fishing, antique cars and family time. After retiring, he enjoyed spending time in Florida with friends and family and gardening when home in the summer.

Don leaves behind his wife of 57 years Nancy C. (Brenton) Strainer, as well as three sons Larry A. (Suzzie), Jeff W. (Sandy) and Gary D. (Ede). He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, as well as three brothers John A., Anthony J. and Jerry F. and one sister Jean Marie.

Visitation will be from 11am to 1pm Thursday Jan. 24 at Matthews Mortuary, with funeral services there at 1pm. There will be a short graveside service to follow at Danville South Cemetery.
