Saratoga Springs, NY – Donald L. Pratt Sr., age 84, passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Saratoga Center and Rehab Facility, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 6, 1934 in Saratoga Springs, NY, the son of the late William L. Pratt and Helen Parks. He serviced in the US Navy from 1952 to 1960 which he was very proud of.

He was also a member of the VFW, NRA Life member and a 40-year member of the American Legion, post 70 where he served as past commander. He worked for VAN Raaltes in Saratoga Springs for many years. He would also work on his off hours from VAN Raaltes doing his moving business Don General Trucking Company with his dear friends George Hurley and Donny Meyers until VAN Raaltes shut down in 1982.

Then he took a civil service test and worked in the Saratoga Springs School System until his retirement in 1996. He loved taking his beloved wife on rides to the McMahon’s Farm to see the new ponies and Saratoga national park to watch the dear. He was also his wife’s care giver until the day of her passing.

He loved all sports, especially the NY Yankees, golf and football. He also loved Hunting and fishing. He cherished going to the NY Yankees games with his wife and grandson, William.

When racing season came you could find him and his wife at the Saratoga Race track every day. Donald was a great husband, father, grandfather to all his family and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Donald is survived by his sons, Derwin Pratt (Darlene), Donald Pratt Jr.; daughter, Tamie Zlotnick (John Allen); brothers, Walter Pratt, Wilber Pratt and Edward Pratt; sister in-law, Linda (Michael) Aud; grandchildren, Zoe & Regen Zlotnick and William Pratt; great grandchild Madalynn and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife Brenda, Step-brother Roger Pratt, Bill Pratt, William Clute, James Pratt, Charles Pratt, Ruth Howe and son, Eddie Pratt. A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, on Monday, November 19, 2018, at Maplewood Cemetery at the corner of Weibel Ave. and Louden Rd.

, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. There will be a celebration of life following the service at the American Legion, 34 West Ave, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866. In lieu of flowers, you can send donation in honor of Donald to the Alzheimer’s Association.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Carl Sgambati, Saratoga Community Hospice and Saratoga Center for Rehab & Skilled Nursing and staff for all their love, care and compassion for Donald.
