Obituary Service Details Donald L. St. John of North Tonawanda, NY passed away July 23, 2018 surrounded by family. He was born in Niagara Falls, NY on November 20, 1933, the son of the late Homer S. and Marguerite (Smith) St. John. Mr. St. John was retired and previously employed as a Millwright at Harrison Radiator.

He served with honor in the US Army. We don’t know how to put into words what this man meant to his family,he was a proud father, grandfather, great grandfather and the loving patriarch of his family. His greatest joys in life were his family, home and gardens.

He built his home with his own hands. He never met a problem he couldn’t fix, a garden he couldn’t grow, a grandchild he couldn’t love. He and his wife Valerie of 63 years, raised 4 children, saw them go on to have 8 grandchildren, and was blessed to see 20 great grandchildren.

He was a man of few words but showed his love with every action he made, his greatest achievement is his family, we are his greatest garden. Don and Val cultivated and sowed their entire lives to give us everything we have. In the middle of the driest, hottest summer, he left this earth and the skies opened with rain.

There’s no doubt in my mind it’s him continuing to care for his great garden and reminding us he’ll always be here. We know no one can live forever, and 84 years is a lot more than most get, but we were not ready to say goodbye. Please pray for our family as we try to navigate life without our fixer, Dad, Papa and Grampy.

Mr. St. John is survived by his wife Valerie C. (Goodin) St. John, son Donald L. St. John Jr., daughters Laurie A. (St.John) Walck, Sheree L. (St. John) Mowrey, Lisa J. (St. John) Brochey, loving grandchildren, and brothers Howard St. John and Richard St. John. A private memorial will be held by the family at a later time. Inurnment with Military Honors in Acacia Park Cemetery.
