Donald Lee Stearnes, 62, Lamar, MO, passed away late Tuesday evening, November 27, 2018, with family by his side. Donald was born December 31, 1955 in Carthage, MO, to the late Roland Lee Stearnes and Rowena (Hutchens) Stearnes. He was a 1974 graduate of Carthage High School.

Donald married Mary Martin on November 6, 1976 in Carthage, MO; she survives. He worked at Schreiber Food and Casey’s General Store in Carthage. Donald served on the Carthage City Council for many years.

Survivors… Read More » include his wife, one daughter, Kim Rice (Randy), Seattle, WA; one son, Kyle Stearnes (Chasie), Carthage, MO; two brothers, Steve Stearnes (Ann), Joplin, MO, and Ronald Stearnes (Phyllis), Claremore, OK; and four grandchildren, Cooper Roland, Chelsea, Shelby, and Melanie. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial services will be held 2 pm, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage.

Minister John Petticrew will officiate. Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Park Cemetery, Carthage. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be given to the Carthage Humane Society in care of Knell Mortuary.
