Donald Breneman Donald Paul Breneman, age 82, a resident of Pleasant Hills Borough in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formerly of the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, passed away on December 20, 2018. He was born on November 28, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a son of Francis Edgar Breneman and Ann Catherine (Crowley) Breneman. In addition to his father, Francis, he was preceded in death by his mother and step father, Ann C. Morrison and Charles “Chick” Morrison and brother, Lawrence Breneman.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Elizabeth Breneman; four beloved children, Catherine Breneman, Donald (Lori) Breneman, Caroline Breneman, and Matthew (Karrie) Breneman; six beloved grandchildren, Madeline, Donald, Michael, Lily and Zachary Breneman and Ellen Hallman; his step-brother, Charles (Stephanie) Morrison; step-sister, Elizabeth (David) Guydan and two sister-in-law’s, Virginia Breneman and Darlene (Al) Akers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Donald’s greatest joy was his family and grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Pittsburgh and Georgetown University. He earned his medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and completed his residency at Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic in Pittsburgh. Donald served his country as a Major in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was stationed in Korea and at the Valley Forge Army Hospital.

He served his community in the Western Pennsylvania area, as a psychiatrist at Mercy Hospital, Westmoreland Hospital, the Allegheny County Jail, Chestnut Ridge Counseling Services, and Pyramid Healthcare, among others, for 49 years. He loved the city of Pittsburgh and was an avid supporter of its museums, libraries, conservatories, and sports teams. Family and friends are invited to visitation from 1 – 8 pm on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in the Stephen D. Slater Funeral Home 1701 Route 51, Jefferson Hills, Pennsylvania 15025.

His funeral service will be in the Pleasant Hills Presbyterian Church 199 Old Clairton Road, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15236 on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at 11am. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT THE CHURCH. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to the Friends of the Pleasant Hills Library, 340 Grace Street Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15236 or the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, 4400 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania 15213.

He is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family, patients, colleagues, and neighbors.
