Fargo, 84, beloved husband of the late Joan (Berry) Fargo died peacefully on Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Westerly Hospital surrounded by his family. Born in New London, CT he was the son of the late William F. Fargo Sr. and Ella (Parker) Fargo. A resident of Westerly for many years, he recently was living at Chestnut Cottage at The Elms for the past 6 ½ years.

He was a Carpenter Foreman at the former Norwich State Hospital. Don was also an active member of the Union Independent Bargaining Team. He retired from the State of Connecticut in 1988 after 33 years of dedicated service.

Don was a lifetime member and a past President of the Germania Lodge of Norwich. He was also a member of the Rose City Barbershoppers; spreading his joy and love for music at countless community events. In his leisure time Don enjoyed clamming during summer vacations in Weekapaug, traveling with his wife, and was an avid card player; especially cribbage.

. He is survived by his two children, Donna R. Terenzi, and her husband, Jon, of Stonington, CT and Kenneth N. Fargo and his wife Laura, of Gainesville, VA; his brother, George Fargo, of Hallowell, ME; a granddaughter, Catherine Kelly and her husband Joseph, of Plainfield, CT. and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, William F. Fargo Jr. of New London, CT The family would like to thank the dedicated staff at the Chestnut Cottage for their compassion and devotion for his care over the past 6 ½ years. Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Tuesday, January 8th from 5-8 pm at the Mystic Funeral Home on Route 1 in Mystic, CT. A service will be held Wednesday, at 11:00 am at the funeral home.

Following his service, he will be buried at the River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopehealth Hospice of Providence, RI.
