Donald R. Sanders, 87, of Orleans, passed away at 12:32 PM on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. He was born March 10, 1932 in Orleans, IN, the son of Arcus R. and Hazel A. (Johnson) Sanders. He married Joretta Ann Sanders (Ashley) on September 1, 1950 and she survives.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mitchell where he previously served as a deacon. He worked at Smith Cabinets for many years. He was a graduate of the Orleans High School class of 1950.

He dedicated his life to serving the Lord. He is survived by his wife of Orleans; one son, Barry (Shirley) Sanders, of Sleepy Hollow, IL; one daughter, Jane Ann Carroll (Brian) of Orleans; four grandchildren, Kari (Kevin), Jeff (Jaclyn), Ali and Lexi; three step grandsons, Ben (Jenna), Andrew (Meg) and Cameron (Elli); three great grandchildren; one brother, David (Pat) Sanders of Carmel. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gene Wright and Betty Mesmer.

The funeral will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at the First Baptist Church of Mitchell with Pastor Reggie Clark and Bud Kielhorn officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans. Friends are invited to visitation at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
