Donald Ray Bartlett of Hendersonville, Tennessee formerly of Centertown, Kentucky passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born in Owensboro, Kentucky on June 20, 1939 to the late Robert Bartlett and Jessie Porter. Early in life, he attended Centertown Baptist Church.

He graduated from Centertown High School in 1957 and then attended Murray State University. He joined the Air Force in 1961 and served until 1968. Later in life, he completed his graduate degree at Volunteer State Community College and retired from the IRS.

Upon that retirement, he went to work for Motel 6 Corporation and started farming later retiring from both. Donald was a big University of Kentucky basketball fan and loved being in the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and attending to his cattle. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Bartlett and Jessie Porter, along with two brothers, Carol Bartlett and Marion Porter, and his step-father, Orman Porter. He leaves behind to cherish his loving memory his wife of 53 years, Nancy, two loving children, Michael Bartlett and Sheila Houston, along with a loving son-in-law, Daryl Houston, his sister, Rita Porter, seven grandchildren, Ashley Callis, Autumn Bartlett, Cassie Bartlett, Haley Bartlett, Jessica Snyder, Jonathan Bartlett, Kyle Bartlett, and nine great-grandchildren. Services will be 11:00 am Monday, March 11, 2019 at Miller Schapmire Funeral Home, with Brother Scott Fleener officiating.

Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm Sunday, and again from 9:00 am to 11:00 am Monday at the funeral home. Miller Schapmire Funeral Home is both honored and privileged to be entrusted with the care of Mr. Bartlett.
