Donna Meche Prather May 09, 1944 – February 01, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook WASHINGTON ~ Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at a 12:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Immaculate Conception Church in Washington for Donna Prather, age 74, the former Donna Meche, who passed away Friday, February 1, 2019 at her residence in Baton Rouge. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. Rev.

Landry, pastor of Immaculate Conception Church in Washington, will officiate at the services. Donna was a native of Washington, where she lived until 1986. She was employed as a nurse for 45 years.

She took a position at East Feliciana Villa Hospital in Jackson, LA in 1986. She went on to become an educator at Greenwell Springs Hospital, where she worked until her retirement in 1999. She was a six time cancer survivor and was affectionately known as the Energizer bunny.

She could take a lickin and keep on tickin. She loved being with her family and friends, and enjoyed camping and fishing with those she loved. She was known for her nurturing spirit and never met a stranger.

Survivors include one son, Todd Moise Prather and life partner, Stephen Tagert, of Denham Springs; one daughter, Dodi Kay Prather and life partner, Bonnie Creel, of Baton Rouge; one brother, Randy Scott Meche of Washington; her four legged companion, Izzy and her two little girls in Oklahoma, Darby and Devri; her sidekick, the Louise to her Thelma, Susan Darbonne; and a special adoptive family member, Marguerite Annison. She was preceded in death by her parents, Felton Joseph Meche and the former Mary Ena Joubert; and her former husband, Otha Shelton Prather. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday and will continue from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday. The Prather family would like to extend special thanks to her faithful neighbors, Marty Chris and Alexis Paddie. Pallbearers will be her four godchildren, Greg Meche, Harry Harvey, Robbie Darbonne and Jody Soileau, and Bobby Darbonne and Glenn Meche.
